Update On The Married Woman Ráped Inside Police Station


Mrs. Esse Isaiah Ozegbe, who was arrested on February 26, 2013, following a quarrel with her neighbour, was detained among men at Abraka police station, where two boys ráped her in turn, and laughing, while the policemen on duty kept quiet.
Consequently, the station cell guard has been dismissed from the police and a Police Inspector, Mrs. Erebi Akporunor, has been demoted to the rank of sergeant. This is phase one of the fall-out of the rápe of Mrs. Esse Isaiah Ozegbe inside the station....

The dismissal and demotion of the police personnel were the outcome of an orderly room trial carried out by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 5, of 11 policemen in connection with the saga.

Policemen on duty that fáteful night paid deaf ears to her cry for help, while the boys ráped her in turn.

The two boys, who ráped Mrs. Ozegbe, are currently standing trial at a Magistrate Court in Abraka.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Ozegbe, through her lawyer, Efe Ejomafuvwe, had instituted a suit at the Federal High in Warri, Delta State. In the suit, she is claiming the sum of N750 million damages against the Nigeria Police Force.

The trial will commence on June 13, 2013.
