Aiming to get ahead of a flurry of announcements expected at next week’s IFA trade show in Berlin, Korea’s LG on Saturday announced details of LG G Pad 8.3 tablet.
LG has a habit of trying to get ahead of the pack when it comes to announcements, using the days leading up to last year’s Mobile World Congress to announce its products, rather than waiting for the Barcelona event to begin.
As for this G Pad tablet, LG is making much out of the fact that it is the first of the 8-inch tablets to sport a full 1080p HD display (though others are expected to have similar products relatively soon). It also packs a Qualcomm 600 processor, front and rear cameras, 16GB of memory and Android 4.2.2.
LG isn’t announcing pricing but said the tablet will arrive starting in the fourth quarter in North America, Europe and Asia.
Samsung is planning to show off its Galaxy Gear smartwatch and Galaxy Note III phablet at an event on Wednesday, while many other electronics makers have introductions planned for next week’s IFA trade show.
