Android Apps Make Its Place in BlackBerry World

ByBlackBerry, one of the leading Canadian mobile phone makers, is soon allowing Android applications to be downloaded through its official BlackBerry World portal. This decision has already been confirmed officially as BlackBerry OS 10.2.1 already has expanded support for Android apps. In November 2013, an update is announced by BlackBerry to its SDK with an improved Android runtime packed inside that increase possibility of developing more application for Google’s platform to run on its own mobile Operating System.

“Android apps that use shared libraries written in native-code, such as C and C++, will now be supported on BlackBerry 10,” the Canadian vendor announced at the time. BlackBerry 10.2.1 SDK OS, the latest version has brought the new Android runtime to developer smartphones that enables app builders to check their created software for supportability with the latest release. Generally, through this feature, one can easily able to install android applications (apk) files on their smartphone. Things you can found is download source for these applications.

Actually, BlackBerry is getting ready for accumulating of Android software in the aforesaid BlackBerry World portal with an aim to allow users to access more content from their handsets, according to a recent article on Good e-Reader. It is also claimed by news site that BlackBerry has moved toward game publishers to decide to release their titles through its portal. Now onwards, developers just have to submit descriptions and screenshots in order to list our software in the BlackBerry World. That simply means, no more efforts are required to submit app.

On other side, users can easily download and install any applications, no matter what type of content built on their device. It seems that BlackBerry Q5, Q10, Z10, and Z30 will able to run Android applications. However, no accurate information is available about the OS upgrade. Check out for custom Android Apps.

Christmas Day bombings in Iraq's capital kill 37

Militants in Iraq
targeted Christians
in three separate
Christmas Day
bombings in
Baghdad, killing at
least 37 people,
officials said Wednesday.
In one attack, a car bomb went off near
a church in the capital's southern Dora
neighborhood, killing at least 26 people
and wounding 38, a police officer said.
Earlier, two bombs ripped through a
nearby outdoor market simultaneously
in the Christian section of Athorien,
killing 11 people and wounding 21, the
officer said.
The Iraq-based leader of the Chaldean
Catholic Church, Louis Sako, said the
parked car bomb exploded after
Christmas Mass and that none of the
worshippers were hurt. Sako said he
didn't believe the church was the
target.
There was no immediate claim of
responsibility for the attacks, but Iraq's
dwindling Christian community, which is
estimated to number about 400,000 to
600,000 people, often has been
targeted by al-Qaida and other
insurgents who see the Christians as
heretics.

BBM FOR NOKIA LUMIA PHONES COMING SOON

BBM For Nokia Coming Soon
You know most atimes I kept
wondering why will BBM
intelligently bypass window phone like
Lumia to supports
Android and iPhone operating system.
And I just can’t find
the best answers to that question.
I was surfing the net a while ago and
I discovered some group
of passionate developers are already
working hard to lunch
BBM for Window8 phones. BBM for
windows phone 8 devices is
already rumoured and is in progress
according to the report
from some hidden BlackBerry’s
officials.
According to the report, Nokia Lumia
520, Lumia 620, Lumia
625, Lumia 720, Lumia 820, Lumia
920, Lumia 1020 and all
Nokia and HTC devices running the
Windows Phone 8 (WP8)
platform will be getting the update
early from those devices
running Windows Phone 7.5 Mango
like Nokia Lumia 510, Lumia
610, Lumia 710, Lumia 800 and the
Lumia 900.
Well, I really hope to see this coming
to pass soonest if
actually they are working on it.
Though BlackBerry took a long
time to confirm the BBM app for
Android and iOS so its
obvious that they will take some more
time to confirm the
BBM app for windows phone platform.
In other words, there is hope for Nokia
users. Let’s wait and
see what next.

40 interesting and lesser known facts about google!

curious to know more about the
biggest tech giant? here are 40
lesser known facts about
google!
google is indeed an
inseparable part of everyone's
life today. let's accept that we
all are curious to know
interesting things about the
company, which has brought
big things like, google search
and android. so, we bring to
you 40 interesting facts to bring
you closer to 'our favourite'
google!

1. the google guys, larry page
and sergey brin, met first in
1995 at stanford university
when sergey was asked to
show larry around the school.
google was first created as a
private company on 4
september, 1998, and its first
initial public offering was held
on 19 august, 2004.

2. a google employee is termed
as a googler, while they like to
call a new employee “noogler.”

3. based on alexa, google is
the internet’s most used
website globally.

4. google aims to organise the
world’s information and “make
it universally accessible and
useful.”

5.the earlier version of google
which was developed at
stanford could only analyse
30-50 pages a second. today,
the count has increased to
millions of pages per second.

6. google was sued by a
former google sales executive,
christina elwell, on the grounds
of job discrimination, when she
was pregnant with quadruplets.
the court granted google's
request to move the case to
arbitration rather than to a
public trial.

7. creators page and brin
thought if of naming google as
"what box." however, brin
thought that it sounded similar
to "wet box," which sounds like
some kind of porn.

8. critics opine that the internet
might still be in its pre-
hellenistic age sans google.

9. during the egyptian crisis in
2011-2012, google launched
its special service, which
allowed people with no internet
to send tweets by dialing a
phone number and dropping a
voicemail. the voicemail was
automatically translated as

10. facebook users spend the
most minutes on the internet,
with over 250 billion minutes in

200 billion minutes,
respectively.

11. a fellow graduate sean
anderson asked page and brin
to name their site as
'googolplex'. page thought they
should shorten it to 'googol,'
which means number 1
followed by 100 zeroes.
anderson mistyped 'googol' as
'google,' which was an
available name. the name
reflects google’s mission to
organise the massive amounts
of information on the web.

12. google ceo eric schmidt got
into controversy when he told
google users that the future of
the web is headed towards
complete transparency and no
anonymity. he said that if
google looked at a person’s
messaging and a person’s
location, it could predict where
a person will go. additionally,
according to schmidt, if a
person has just 14 photos on
the internet, google could
accurately identify the person.

13. schmidt raised eyebrows
when in a 2011 interview, he
said that he doesn’t think
people want google to answer
their questions, rather they
want google to “tell them what
they should be doing next.”

14. google is criticised by its
competitors that it manipulates
its search results, it uses
others’ intellectual properties, it
consumes big amount of
computer energy, and for
monopoly, antitrust, and

company is also criticised for
promoting sexism and ageism.

based on a philosophy called
reggio emilia, which is a self-
directed learning program. in

on each child per year, where
as getting a phd in computer
science at stanford costs
$34,000 a year.

16. google has reduced its tax
rates by billions of dollars by
intelligently taking advantage of
offshore tax havens such as
ireland and bermuda. top
corporate income tax in the
u.s. is 35 per cent. where as in
ireland, it's only 12.5 per cent,
and in bermuda it’s zero.

computer science graduate
student at stanford. he was
hired september 1998. he
currently serves as director of
technology at google.

18. google was originated at
the stanford school of
engineering with an attempt to
catalog and analyse the world
wide web. the process first ran
at stanford with the user name
“google.stanford.edu.”

petabytes of user-generated
data every day. 1 petabyte is
approximately
1,000,000,000,000,000 bytes.

brush and reduce fire hazard in
fields at their california
mountain view headquarters.

21. about 1 million computers
are used for google's operation
and about 1 billion search
requests are handled every

22. google is a dog-friendly
company as per its code of
conduct. they state in a quirky
way, that it is a “dog
company...as a rule we feel
cats visiting our offices would
be fairly stressed out.”

23. google’s first-ever twitter
post was: “i’m 01100110

01100011 01101011 01111001
00001010."in february 2004.

33. remember “googolplex,”
which was earlier being
considered by larry page and
sergey brin as the name of the
company, which means 10 to
the power of googol. the name
was later adopted the for their
corporate campus in mountain

ASUU SUSPENDS STRIKE AFTER SIGNING MEMORANDUM

Union signs MoU with FG
The Academic Staff Union of
Universities (ASUU)
will suspend the five months strike
next week after
the union signed a Memorandum of
Understanding
to that effect with Federal Government
on
Wednesday
ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Fagge, who
signed the
agreement on behalf of the union,
confirmed to
journalists that the strike would be
called off next
week following agreement signed by
both parties.
Fagge said the MoU contained all the
demands
presented by the union.

Nokia plans on releasing Android devices soon

Nokia Android prototype reportedly is
still into production
Last week the New York Times revealed
that Nokia has indeed worked on an
Android smartphone as an alternative to
the Microsoft partnership prior to the
acquisition announcement. As it turns
out, the Finns haven't completely
scraped the Android project and are still
working on an Android smartphone. The
report comes from a Weibo account
CTechnology, which has generally been
a reputable source of leaks from China.
we are mentioning China, because this
where Nokia has based the R&D of its
Android smartphoneр dubbed
"Mountain View", more specifically in
the Beijing offices of the company. In
fact, the project is so ahead in its
development that Foxconn has made
and delivered a cool 10,000 "Mountain
View" prototype units to date.
Moreover, there are still more
development that's going around the
prototype and Foxconn is continuing its
manufacturing. According to the report,
the project will continue to live on at
least until November. Then, Nokia
shareholders are bound to approve or
denounce Microsoft's acquisition offer.
As for the "Mountain View" prototype
itself, Nokia has based it on the
Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 8225Q chip
with the sole intention of the Android
smartphone to be affordable. No more
information regarding further
specifications is available at this point.
We wouldn't be surprised if we some of
these prototypes leak when, and if, the
project gets cancelled. The Microsoft
and Nokia deal, however, is likely to
pass and the company's Android
initiative is likely to go bite the dust by
the end of the year. Here's hoping we
at least get to see how the "Mountain
View" prototype looks like if the project
really does go south.

President Barack Obama is not allowed to use an iPhone

The troubled mobile phone maker
BlackBerry still has at least one very
loyal customer: U.S. President Barack
Obama.
At a meeting with youth on Wednesday
to promote his landmark healthcare law,
Obama said he is not allowed to have
Apple’s smart phone, the iPhone, for
“security reasons,” though he still uses
Apple’s tablet computer, the iPad.
Apple was one of several tech
companies that may have allowed the
National Security Agency (NSA) direct
access to servers containing customer
data, according to revelations by former
NSA contractor Edward Snowden. The
companies deny the allegation.
Obama fought to keep his BlackBerry
after coming to the White House in
2009, though he said only 10 people
have his personal email address.
Neither George W. Bush nor Bill Clinton
used email during their presidencies.
BlackBerry, a Canadian company
formerly known as Research In Motion
Ltd, virtually invented the idea of on-
the-go email, but lost its market
stranglehold as rivals brought out more
consumer-friendly devices, like Apple’s
iPhone and phones using Google’s
Android software.
The company recently halted plans to be
sold and is trying to chart a new course
by focusing on large business and
government clients.

We Will Deliver President Message to Our Asuu Members Fagge -(LOOKS LIKE THE STRIKE IS FINALLY COMING TO AN END)

The Chairman of ASUU, Dr. Nasir Fagge, told the reporters in the early hours of November 5, 2013, Tuesday, at the State House that the leaders would take the President message back to their members.

Dr. Fagge, who wore broad smiles afar emerging from the meeting venue at about 3.35 a.m. did not say what the message was when he spoke with the correspondents.

Well we have had lengthy meeting with Mr. President, rubbing minds on how best to address the problem of University education in this country.

And we now have a message from Mr. President we are going to take to our members. And we are expecting that our members will respond appropriately to the message of Mr. President.

On whether the lecturers are going back to the classroom, he said: â€Å“That is up to our members.”

Asked what the message was, he said: I cant tell you. It's not for you. It is for our members.

If impressed with the message, he said: Dont put words into my mouth. Our members will determine that.

The Labour Minister, Emeka Wogu, who also spoke with the press, just said what was discussed did not go beyond the 2009 agreement.

The meeting with the President had begun at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, around 2.40 p.m. on Monday, after ASUU had also met with the President of the Senate, Senator David Mark.

It would be mentioned that it was the first meeting between the striking union and President Goodluck Jonathan since the strike began 1 July, shutting down almost all state and Federal Government owned universities in Nigeria.

The Federal Government had initially offered the striking lecturers N30billion to pay for allowances piled up since government and the union hammered out an agreement in 2009. Government also offered N100billion to pay for improvements of facilities in the universities and later increased this to N200billion on a yearly basis.

ASUU rejected the offer as too small and insisted on government implementing in full the 2009 agreement.
What do you think will be the responds from its members ?

Jonathan meets ASUU today, union warns against force

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan will meet the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities on Monday (today), apparently with a view to resolve the Federal Government-ASUU face-off that has left varsity gates shut since July 1.
But the union said it had got wind of Presidency's plan to direct that universities be reopened, saying such directive without amicable resolution of the current strike would deepen the crisis.
Chairman of ASUU, University of Uyo chapter, Dr. Nwachukwu Anyim, said this in a statement in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Sunday, saying that the union leaders were invited by the President.
Anyim said the invitation by Jonathan should ordinarily inspired hopes that the four-month-old strike by the lectures would soon end but that the union needed to be cautious in its optimism.

UNIVERSITIES TO RESUME UNFAILINGLY NEXT WEEK WITH OR WITHOUT *ASUU*

ioIn a last ditch effort to resolve the ASUU strike,
President Goodluck Jonathan will on Monday, November
4, meet with the leadership of ASUU at the Presidential
Villa.

This was part of the resolutions of the meeting between the
ASUU leadership, Vice President Namadi Sambo and the
Supervising Minister of Education on Tuesday as was first
reported by this medium.

An official of the Vice President̢۪s office who pleaded
anonymity said that all hands are now on deck to ensure
that the universities resume next week.

REASON WHY BLACKBERRY ROLLED OUT BBM TO ANDROIDS AND IPHONES

So the big day finally came.  I was just about to take to Twitter to complain about the silence from the @BBM channel, despite Frank Boulben telling Reuters the launch was coming in a matter of days.  And then, as luck should have it, I saw the Inside BlackBerry blog post about today’s launch.
I already have BBM up and running on my Galaxy S4 and I’m pleased to say it’s actually working well for me.  I’m not experiencing prior known bugs.  My only temporary issue was that in tests from my Samsung to CrackBerry Adam’s Nexus, a high percentage of sent messages were never delivered.  As soon as I rebooted, the problem disappeared.  It now works perfectly.

ASUU strike:Finally!! Senate Pass Resolution To End Asuu Strike

Senate yesterday passed a resolution asking Senate President David Mark to engage President Goodluck Jonathan and officials of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to end the four months strike that has shut Nigerian universities since July.Senate also appealed to the striking university lecturers to suspend the industrial action to allow room for negotiations, in order to resolve the stalemate.
Senate resolution to empower Mark to lead the negotiation team with government and ASUU was based on a motion sponsored by a record 108 members, who fervently appealed to ASUU to call off the strike.
After an exhaustive debate of the motion, during which senators agreed that the agreement ASUU signed with government in 2009 was not implementable because of the cost implication, directed its committee on education to liaise with the Ministry of Education, National Universities Commission (NUC), ASUU and other stakeholders on how to proffer solutions and stem further strikes.
